Im sold on turbo A's. If its for a street car, think about a turbo from a diesel. Mine starts boost at 2500rpm , limited to 5900. Dont need to rev the ring out of it to get usable street power. my two cents

For turbo it's best to used stock dished pistons and stock or limited cam.

But you can still use the high-revving, high-compression parts -- It just limits how much boost you can apply. For an old-school build (with no intercooler) you can do 5 psi boost. If you fit dished pistons and thrift cam and an intercooler you could do 15 psi or higher.

I'm a fan of high compression with a turbo, cause then the lag is lessened. On the other hand, for maximum power use low compression with high boost and if the turbo is sized small enough the lag isn't so much.

So I would be of starting with another stock engine A12 or A14 then

you may needa run different pistons than you have as you said they have less dish so the comps been lifted for a na tune already. youl wanna go back to a dish to drop you compression ratio. im guessing the cams been ground for na too so id swap that out even for a stocker cam. in saying that keep the tune right and it will last. its all in the tune.

The great thing about an old-school turbo build is it's the least expensive way to add increased big power. Sikyne made 160 hp from a stock A12 block, with stock A14 head. No need for special pistons or forged parts. Spend the money where it is needed: plenty of fuel and limited spark advance.

If you were to build 160 HP without a turbo, it's nearly impossible at any cost. You won't get that much with an old-school build, but I daresay more HP can be made than $5,000 worth of traditional build-up.

The only thing needed for the A14 block is replace the cam with a stock cam or turbo cam.

A14 stock can easily take 10 psi in a blow-through setup. For the 32/36, make sure it has solid float, not the early Weber brass floats.

I have a nice A14 with a good cam I was thinking about a Turbo
set up for a bit of extra Power So I what to know what's involved ?
The A14 is a Basic Build 1ml over size piston's a lot less dish in them
from Original.. And I good cam And a 32/36 Webber
