one of the holes in the 1200 alternator bracket is slightly off,but nothing a round file won't adjust.just use slightly larger flat washers to spread the torque of the bolt out slightly. a friends 1200 coupe has the alternator in the original position, below the intake,on an a15.just make sure the pulley lines up reasonably closely with the crank pulley,or you will be twisting fan belts,& losing them at high revs.

there is plenty of holes and space on that side, one of my A15's came with a big factory bracket on there with air-con comp and power steering above it.
its really just a matter of making brackets to fit it there.

I looked through my Chilton manual and see I got it wrong (I edited the above).
All US A12s have the alternator on the manifold side, down low. Starting with the A13 (1974 B210), it is on the spark-plug side up high. This won't work for the A12, because that's where the A12 dizzy is. The A13, A14, A15 and A12A have the dizzy halfway back along the engine.

1200s had it on the manifold side, down near the bottom.
US B210s have the alternator on the opposite side (right side) up near the top. Quote: Are there any photos in here? For example, on the manifold side:

Didn't the original A12's have the alternator on the manifold side. Are there any photos in here?

theres no reason why not, as long as you can make up a bottom mount (i doubt it has holes in the block for mount unless you can use other ones intended for something else), the top adjusting mount will come off a thermostat housing bolt and the only other thing is to have the bottom radiator hose wind over some how (not a big deal)
