Another cheap option is early commodore struts. They come for lowered applications & are readily available

I know that koni's are good, but won't be able to spend that much on inserts.
What brands do people prefer.... Kyb, Monroe Pedders?

If im not mistaken, Z31 inserts have M12 rod nut as do nearly all Datsun struts. You can get the right nut for your camber tops, it is larger Outside Diameter but with M12 threads internally
