ddgonzal - the holden 6 is basically like a 'mini-me' design of the chevy inline 6 - including the siamese intake ports with the head bolt going through the centre of them and obstructing flow.
My first car - LC torana - can't buy it back, a friend crashed it and destroyed it, but he got out without a scratch. I look back and sometimes wish the reverse had happened! I'd happily have any of the LC/LJ toranas I had back. when I had them (late 80s and early 90s) they could be had relatively affordably. Now finding one that is rust free enough to even consider a resto on is a major hurdle, and the prices are nuts.

Datsun 1600 Sedan.... Bought it for $200 when I was 13 or 14? Clutch master cylinder was wrecked and it had been donated to a local Kindergarten fund raiser where kids would pay a couple of dollars to "paint" it. Every panel was painted on a rainbow of colours with all sorts of house/fence/ceiling and spray paint. Got clutch sorted and was a great car to play with at that age ... sold it for $500. Would I have one again... YES.

It was 1985 on my 15th Birthday that my stepdad showed up in a 72 Volkswagon Beatle. I remember him telling me" Here, Happy Birthday and please don't use my Datsun B210 anymore". It lasted me 1 week before I traded my beatle for a red 72 Datsun 1200 4sp.

1958 Morris Minor 1000 4 door. I considered buying a 2 door Morris a few years after I sold the 4 door but went with the Datsun 1200 instead.

The engine was Australian designed.
Started as a 149ci 6 cylinder in 1962 with a Stromberg carbie. Ended its life in 1986 as a 202ci with fuel injection. As a 179ci in the EH it had a billet crank and was unbreakable. gutless but unbreakable. The gear box had no syncro in first so you had to stop stationary to put it into 1st. You had to plan ahead . . . . .
