I believe 316 Stainless has a lower tensile yield than even low carbon steel. Better to go with the high Datsun standards

Most of the engine bolts are not high-tensile. Of course rod/main/head bolts are
The Nissan part numbers tell you the strength: * 0811 - low carbon steel * 0812 - medium carbon steel * 0813 - Alloy steel For example, from our parts catalog 08110-61410 BOLT M6 FIXING OIL PAN 0811 is low-carbon steel

arp head studs to suit an a15? http://amazon.com/ARP-202-4203-Cylinder-Head-Stud/dp/B00I5AQPX8 Waste of money unless you will be exceeding 1 bar boost. The factory Nissan A15 head bolts are used on 2.4 liter engines so they are plenty strong. Proper preparation and every-two-year retorque prevents gasket failure

Is it best to use high tensile where possible or can standard 316 stainless be OK for everything except the head bolts

Thanks ruredi! Just wondering if you have a part number for the arp head studs to suit an a15?

DATSUN A12 A14 A15 Metric Engine Bolt Kit
I used the above link as a guide and went down to my local Warburtons and purchased all stainless steel items. I got this kit all in stainless steel for $17.00. You may as well get ARP head studs to put the head on. As for the rest, go down to your local wreckers as ddgonzal said and scab the ones you need and clean them up on a wire wheel. Or label and bag them up as you take them from the wreckers, and go get new stainless ones for them also!

You can get all that for $10 at pick-n-part
The part numbers are shown in the Nissan links given earlier

Would these be the head bolts and washers I need for an a15?
