Was working on an SE-R today. It has a neat features:

* only three vacuum hoses (tank vent valve, brake booster, port butterflies)
* a sealed throttle plate, works with the stock Nissan ECU or with MegaSquirt

Right. So go to a wrecking yard and buy a harness and ECU with matching MAF. Or you can roll your own ($400 MegaSquirt2 and wiring). MAFs are cheap on RockAuto.com

Best way perhaps is to go to a PickNPull or LKQ and buy complete engine with everything
Pick N Pull prices (2017, Windsor California):
* Engine F-Inj W/Accessories Car $169.99 + $49.99 core
* Transmission Rwd (Std) Car $99.99 + $29.99 core

They have six Frontiers in California. Whether they are 4 cylinder 2WD (and still have the harness/ECU) is not listed

Pick N pull also has dozens of 2002-up Sentras in California. Some of which had QR engines. These are fly-by-wire so you'll need the accelerator pedal stuff to run the factory ECU

Sure, sikyne ran a 71 behind an A12, it'll work with any engine short of V8

is there a way to run the 71 series box as the frontier box is super massive and heavy

And since is has a Cam Position Sensor, it already has the needed crank-fire hardware

Dave looking at the manifold it would be easy enough to flip the upper half sothat the issue of the throttle body being against the fire wall is not an issue. Also looks like I could fit the flat slides of my A15 and run a simple crank fire ignition.

Regardless as long as I'm running vintage it is something that I wouldn't even consider.

Very easy to find. Any USA Nissan pickup 2005-up 4-cylinder 2WD has it

How hard is it to find a 5spd tranny for one of these?
