if it is an Aussie 120Y sedan, it will have a BorgWarner diff that will be more than strong enough for the standard L18

1f I used a 180B diff would I still be able to use stock 180B rims without lipping the guards? I want to have as much as possible bolt up as possible without ho much hassles (welding or cutting)

you may have to keep 120y booster/master but i would think you could swap in the 180b one, keep all the 120y steering stuff, use 180b struts, id say you would have to keep all 120y rear suspension Actually 180B has exactly same master cylinder and booster as 120Y. Both has bigger booster from -75 upwards. Even 240K-GT has same setup. For LHD models you probably want to use some booster which sits closer to firewall, at least if you use dual twin-choke carbs, reverse-mounting original is other way to make more room. If you use 180B x-member and struts you sure want to use all steering things from 180B too because track length will rise about 2", and they all will bolt straigth in as 120Y has mounting holes for 180B streering box etc. 120Y's original diff is weak, it'll probably break very soon and it's basically good idea to use at least H165 from 160J or 180B wagon, it will bolt in with some easy modifications.

Yes, similar to the L20B. It's the NAPS-Z engine (Z18, Z20, Z22, etc).

What kind of engine is the Z18, is it similar to the L20B that came in 180B's?

I was talking to a fella from Port Macquarie yesterday. On the DatNet cruize to Port Kembla.
He had a 120Y with a Z18ET in it. It was a nice install. The car was no showcar, but technically it was interesting. He said he put the "whole" 180B front end in, including swaybar, crossmember etc. He said the hardest part was fitting the clutch master cylinder. But it was an easy install. Chris.

everything should swap in as far as i know, including brake lines if you use the 120y ones, you may have to keep 120y booster/master but i would think you could swap in the 180b one, keep all the 120y steering stuff, use 180b struts, id say you would have to keep all 120y rear suspension
im not 100% sure on this stuff though so dont blame me but from what ive heard on this site what ive said is true

hi guys I'm planning a rebuild of "The Defect" (my farm hack) and I have a extra 120Y 4 door sedan shell, lying around but for someting different I am thinking about putting 180B running gear in it what 120Y suspension /steering parts are retained? and do I have to have brake lines fabricated? because I am trying to do this on a a very thin shoestring budget $450 australian max
