A-series Hitachi carbs have an inked ID. Once the carburetor is "cleaned" there goes the ID
Post photos of all four sides and we can ID it for you

I can't seem to find a model number or markings on the carb to order a rebuild kit? I'd love to redo the gaskets etc.

All good I was thinking I might remove the dashpot thing if that doesn't impact smoothness all too much and replace it with an electronic idle ac up solenoid...

Yes, stock Datsun item is uncommon, but I have seen them. I don't know what that "diesel stop solenoid" is for

They seem to very much be a USA style ring but new they're like $120 which is rather crazy! Oh to be at a 70-80s us wrecker

Also note that most models with A/C didn't have idle-up because It's not needed. You can just set the idle 50 rpm higher than normal. Then when A/C kicks on it goes down to normal. For emissions control it's more important that the idle doesn't vary and is set to the least emissions. So the 1990 Japan emission used it, as did the 1979 USA models

Yes, Datsun did. It is about the Aircon compressor and not directly related to the fan
The magnetic switch is on the side of the compressor, and opens when the compressor activates ![]() Fast Idle Control Device FICD raises the idle speed automatically when A/C is ON to respond to the increased load of the A/C compressor A15 models were like this: ![]() A12 (1990-1994) used an electric solenoid ![]() You can view topic.
