On the engine compartment aluminum plate, VB110 for both. In the parts catalogs and owner's manual VB110 (4-dr) and VB110R (2-dr)

I'd guess only 10% were wagons. The only 1200 model more rare is the 2-door wagon

Thanks! Any idea how rare they are? I know of only one other in this country but there seems to be quite a few in Australia.

Hello, I've been stalking these threads for a long time but this is my first post. I'm currently building a '72 1200 wagon. Almost two years ago my wife and I sold everything including our 3 Datsuns to move down to Panama. We're in our 20's and work online as English teachers to support ourselves. I've been a member of the Facebook Datsun community DPAN (Datsun Parts And Needs) for years and with the help of my friend and founder of the group I was able to pick up a couple 510's here in Panama. The idea was to do a group project sponsored by DPAN using input from the members. Unfortunately because of the climate here, both 510's were too far gone. That's when I found the wagon, it was a local's daily. We made a deal for $750 and drove it home. The car is much rougher than it looks in the pictures and it's not really what you'd call safe by most counties' standards. But we drive it everyday anyway, despite the shakes, no brakes and deafening vibrations. It took me months to undo previous work on the car and get the A12 running right. DPAN has a lot goin on and I don't have much extra money to spend on the car so progress is slow... but the plans are big. The car is part of an on-going article I write for dpangt.wordpress.com and facebook.com/DPAN.GT, so I can't reveal too much yet until I post the next article. I will include a teaser pic...
I'm sure I'll be asking alot of questions and checking the wiki, this is my first 1200. Right now the plan is to L18/5-speed swap the car simply because I have one and I think it will fit the plan well. That's all for now, updates to come! You can view topic.
