Yeah as above said and mechanics charge around the $110 an hour mark plus the bearings which they have to make money on to and the bearings alone aren't a 5 minute job to remove and replace.
They will have to dump the oil and replace with suitable oil, reseal backing plate as they don't have a drain bung.
Then theirs the other little headf#@ks that go with so called straight forward jobs.
Just hope they are thorough mechanics

yeah, its not that simple. but i would have expected $400-450 from my experience if you deliver LSD and centre out of vehicle to them. $650 may be getting more realistic if you are delivering running car+LSD to them, otherwise it's a little high

I have been quoted $650 to replace my open center with LSD. I will be supplying with my LSD, $650 is just the installation cost with new bearings.

Is that a fair price?

I thought it would be just a simple unbolting center from the wheel&pinion and replacing it with the new LSD?
