#7 Re: A12 cylinder head-closed chamber-round port

Texasmidget, the piston I couldnt see in TKs performanceforums post
but apparently he had the pics on aussiev8 forums.

Yet it is the usual Nascar combustion chamber design that is used on
everything these days prob originated from Larry Widmer or one of those
great Nascar engine builders. It seems to be the most popular chamber
design on all V8 engines and circletrack L4 both cross and non crossflow
pushrod heads. I guess with bigger bores on an A series such a small
chamber if using the A12 head would be fine with flat top pistons if
the cam is not too crazy where valve reliefs would be needed.

That is a non-American engine
* using RHD cable clutch
* 1974-up engine

might be early B210. Specs are similar to other A12s, including the small valves

looks like a twee Datsun 1000 exhaust manifold?

That is nice work on the chamber. Do they go with flat top pistons due to deeper chamber?

The top A series racing guys that go all out here in Japan
use these kind of heads from their sunny a12 engines.
They favor deeper chambers and shape them like this
aftermarket chamber

L series version done by TK

The rules dont allow welding the chambers but allow
opening up the ports then using devcon to cover the
water galleries etc. so its easier to get this shape
from the humble a12 heads than the pricier h89 which
is used happily by street tuners instead.

Not sure. Someone was offering it to me and sent pictures. Familiar with the deep chamber. Saw that on a H990 head (closed chamber/round port) which came off of a FU engine. Thanks for the response.

Are the ports / valve stems shrouded. It's hard for me to tell but the combustion chambers look very deep and those where the FU / smog head.

This head came off of an A12 engine. No casting number. Any idea on specifications?
