For our friends OS, with REgo, it will cost a different ammount depending on what state you live in and what type of car you have. Also, some states ( I know that ACT does) include Third party personal damage in the rego... So no need for green slips or whatever some of the other states have to get.
Oh yeah, in ACT we are lucky enough to have the highest rego price in australia. Horah!

It your thread about brake bias 1200rc you mention disc rear ends. This bloke said that he used to run a Fiat 125 (or was that 124) rear end with discs! It involved a lot of welding and cutting. They tossed up between a Bluebird disc rear or the Fiat and ended up with the latter.
He also said that Group G was around then. This had some guys running 1200's with L18 motors. He said they sat the motor back as far as they could otherwise the handling was stuffed.

Dowels seem to be ok. I just whipped the motor and box out of the spare shell and went to put it in the new rally car. I dont see why it is being such a pain in the ass. The input shaft definately wont go all he way in but I cant understand how the alignment could be out seeing as tho I just pulled it from the other car and it was ok. Maybe I should try loosening off the clutch assembly and lining the clutch up just to see if thats the problem. It only takes me about an hour to swap motor and gearbox, but today it was such a long and tedious process!
1200rc, he also asked if I had a cover over the fuel tank. I mentioned that the tank has been fibreglassed on the outside to protect it and he said thats what he used to do, but he also ran some metal strips within the fibreglass just incase you bottom out there is something there. I also run a heap of flaps under the car. One to protect the exhaust flange from the extractors to the rest of the exhaust, one near the muffler, one to cover the ass end of the gearbox where the tail shaft meets. I also have an alloy sump gaurd that runs under the whole sump and part of the bellhousing. The next rally is in about 2-3weeks but I wont have the car ready for that so I will try and offical for it instead. Hope to make it to the rally after that. Still have to buy Terra Trip, Intercom, Fuel Pumps and other assorted bits. I also have to get a tail shaft made to suit the Daihatsu diff and get it balanced! More $$$. Got a great deal on some 3" Klippan harnesses the other day when one of the reps came into work. They are five point too!

check the clutch plate is centred, cause the input shaft won't go all the way into the crank if it's off.also, check dowel pins aren't jamming.hope it's that easy.

"I have to make a new cross memeber for the gearbox which is being a prick seeing as a I cant get the bearbox to mount up to the engine."
Maybe thats my problem. I have a bearbox and not a gearbox. Hmmm..

Just bought some new rear shocks for the rally car. A set of Pedders Gas Shocks. I didnt have shocks as the previous owner took them with him, I just wanted something decent that could handle the job of rallying for a while. After I bought them I called Pedders Head Office in Vic to check they would be ok. Turns out the bloke I was talking to used to rally a 1200 coupe and sedan back in the 70's. He told me alll sorts of ideas and stuff he used to do and use such as using Range Rover engine mounts for more stability and better torque distribuiton. We chatted for ages about 1200's, it was great.
Anyway, I put in the new shocks and she is pretty stiff in the rear which is great. I have spent this arvo trying to put in a motor and box but for some reason the box wont mount flush with the motor, even when they are both out of the car! Total Bastard. I have to make a new cross memeber for the gearbox which is being a prick seeing as a I cant get the bearbox to mount up to the engine. I am going to see if I can build this new motor next week or sometime soon. I found out some details on Special Interest rego. The vehicle has to be 30yrs old, luckily my car was built in Jan of 1973. The car has to be inspected (put over the pits) again before it gets SI approval. Can only drive the car 52 times a year. There is some other details that relate to rally cars but they are all good. Have a good one! Simon

It depends on the state. Washington used to be a percentage of the vehicle's current "book" value. We paid almost $500/year for our 3-year-old Subie. And there was no inspection, it was strictly tax revenue. Then they changed the law, now it's about $60 for that car, and about $50 for the cheapest old vehicle.
In Oregon, it's a flat $24 for two years, no matter how new or how much the car cost.

in an attempt to hi-jack yet another thread, has anyone had problems with tyres scrubbing against the body on the back, to the inside of the wheel? Seriously though you need less offset. You can use thin wheel spacers to move the wheel towards the outside of the car (if it is legal in your state to use wheel spacers). Or use a wheel with less offset. You can view topic.
