you are not required to run harnesses unless you have a rollcage. I still use a lap/sash belt at the moment, but will be getting a cage later in the year.

only belts which conform to Australian Standards are legal for road use. Basically, you can only legally use a 2" harness which has Australian Standards identification, as no 3" webbing has been put through the expensive process of Aus Stds testing. I don't know what the laws are regarding the harness interfering with rear seating... I reckon you're better off with the normal lap/sash belt for a street driven car anyway. Harnesses are a pain in the butt to use all the time, and if you don't have a cage, you probably don't want to be held bolt upright if the car rolls...

what about race harnesses what have you got in yours Harry I can't remember your setup??

if you manufacture or modify any brackets etc to fit seats you need engineer approval (and a mod plate) in QLD

Obviously its easy but it depends on the seats, Harry pictures would be nice......Do you need approval for fixed bucket race seats???

Sounds like your's are corolla FX GT seats? I've got some that were going to be in my car, before I realised I was going to need to recert the whole car to installl them! They now make lovely flat furniture!

i guess it could work, but it's probably easier to just unbolt the slide runners

would this work cutting the slide thing off the botem and cutting the one of the new seat and stick the old seat slide things on the new ones some how like weld plated and stuff or is that to hard

I've got a pair of good condition Import seats complete with engineer approved mounting brackets to suit 1200. $300 and they're yours... All I know is they are out of a Toyota - they have pretty good side bolstering, driver's side base is height adjustable. Black with grey centres on the back and base. I'll have a look tonight to see if I've got a photo if you are interested.

in QLD seat swaps require engineer approval unless they are a direct bolt-in replacement. I've done many seat swaps from import seats to SAAS and SPARCO seats. It's deadset easy on a 1200. Normally aftermarket seats have a narrower base bolt pattern than the original seats and you can simply add 2 peices of flat plate steel (at least 3mm - but consult a Qld Transport approved engineer) between the 1200 runners front and rear and drill those cross pieces to sit the seat base.

PS - Qld transport engineers frown on high tensile bolts for seat mounting. You'll notice the factory uses mild steel...

I'm pretty sure that it's perfectly legal as long as you use the same rails/track width.

If you have to move the rails then you need engineering approval.

I've already lined up some Swift GTi seats for my 1200 coupe, and I don't even get the car until next week!!!
