i believe it's a rubber band motor, Timing belt not chain, and the deck height is taller for ca20 than a ca18, the tooth count would be a problem, like L16 L20b, different chain...

Ok bringing this thread up again with some into on another engine every potato head points out to be the ideal engine when in fact its way heavier than a ca18det which can make as much power with little work and more with less.

The over rated engine is.....

Honda f20 or f22 fully dressed = 158kg!!!!

And the lightest is the K series by Rover

Actually the best rotors are the 9,7/1 from the 89-91 rx7 NA which also are much lighter.

Make sure to use the alloy water pump to save about 100kg from the cast iron one

Yeah, sorry matty, I should have mentioned that when I was talkin to ya before...

You're better off getting a RX4 or RX5 13B block, porting it, and then using series 4 injection on it. Or the other option is to use a series 4/5 turbo block and then rebuild it with higher compression rotors out of rx4 or rx5.

Also, if you need anything, I have most of the manifolds and stuff for series 4 injection lying around.

Couldnt help with figures but I know the series 4 is a 6 port which cant be extend ported like earlier 4 port engines as in the rx5 or rx4 13bs. Max 6 port figures so far have been 160hp which aint much but some have told me that 200 is possible but I dont think it is with such small ports.
You can find the info on some sites.
But the 4 port is the one to go for big power up for little work.

The noise is the only reason Ive almost decided on the Fiat TC engine as a cheap oldskool powerup. If only the supertrapp exhausts were improved to shut them up.
I hear the new 13b renesis has solved the noise with the non peripheral exhausts ports and using side ports instead. However we wont be seing these motors on our shores that quickly from jap imports so the only option for me is a muffler thatll make my 1000 look like a maltese terrier aboard a Malibu surfboard
Yep rotors are blood curdlers. You should have listened to my race bridgeport it never gave me that sporty feel on the track, not like a well sorted piston pump does.
However PPs are much smoother but banned in many racing tracks round the globe (hence the popularity of Bridgeports, J and monser ports) The Japanese racing federation put a ban on Peripheral porting since 1972 on all race tracks.
Many dont remember that in 1984 Rotors were banned (funny how they protect holdens in this country!) Alan Moffats rx7 produced 255kw from a NA bridged p 12a in 1983.

Keeping it in Kw/kg that comes out at 253/96 = 2.635 and 175/96 = 1.83.
Rotors have very high mass/output ratios. I still cant stand the noise they make! It makes my blood curdle
