old is cool I love the sound of a high strung datsun....Whatever, screaming down the backstretch, but for the street I choose modern. if I had my way nothing I own would be carbed, efi gets better milage and in some casses will give more power (mostly due to better fuel distrubution). I love the smooth operation of a well tuned efi and they don't sound dumb on a datsun/nissan engine, unlike the honduh cars that honk when you get on it, nissans seem to shreak or growel
(mabey I'm biased I don't know)

The stock distributor will be OK. EFI does not require a different kind of distributor.
For better performance, you could have the distributor "recurved".

historic has nothing to do with it, its easy, fuel efficient and saves mucking around at vic roads with engenirieng crap. I also like that sound of a hipo na motor. Turbos good for speed, but hipo na good for getting you going.

I love the sound of a webered and cammed older motor. My CA18DE sounded like a L20B with webers... But went twice as far on the same fuel...But I see the point, especially from a historic racing point of view. Chris

Andrew while most of us can dig seeing late model Nissan engines being fitted into 1200's,
Many of us still dig the A series engines.

with all the work you'll be doing for the efi set up you might aswell ditch the A12 for a CA while your at it

Something offered to me

I have had discussions with the nephew of reputable turbo and modification workshop in the north western suburbs, and a possible and afordable EFI conversion could be on the cards for the a12 by december.
I am interested but awaiting final pricing for a fuel only computer efi set up. Dalton advertise efi conversions from $340 in geelong but the are more around $1 K when completed i belive for a datto 1200. What do i need for the conversion, swirl pot, efi pump, injectors and computer. Will the stock dizzy be okay? Most parts will be second hand from turbo upgrades from within the workshop i belive. This gives a good grounding for possible turbo conversion later. More than 100 hp avilable now i think. You can view topic.
