have got a mid mounted dizzy setup on the 120y block, its engine number coresponds with a 1978 model, and has a 1200 sedan gearbox backing it up.
I was just curious as i had to change the mounts when changing from the a12a motor.

maybe just what im looking for for the a15 what are the diffrent weights of them?

id like to lighten just a little but nothing huge

Use A12 flywheel.
Lighter.
Or even lighten that and get it lighter still...

use the 120y engine mounts to mount the motor.the a15 exhaust manafold has three studs were it bolts to the exhaust flange.what gear box do you have 4 or 5 speed because you might have to change fly wheelsQuote:

Having mucked around with A15's in a few different cars form Under 2 Litre Sports Sedans to road cars, There is one man that i know can give you the ins and outs of every single aspect of these great reving little engines.

Jeff Taylor from JTS Performance in Western Sydney is the man to speak to. As these little screamers are popular with a lot of racers around Oz, i would be very surprised that if any of the cars that have competitive engines are not either built by or maintianed by Jeff.

Worth a phone call if you have any questions about A15's as this guy is the Guru of them ... hehehe one problem, i dont have his number with me, if you are interested yell out and i will chase it down for ya.

All A-series engines will bolt into a 1200, so no worries. At worst you'll need to modify the engine mounts. As far as I know there are only two types: the up to-1973 (A10/A12) mounts and the 1973 and newer (A12/A13/A14/A15/A12A) mounts.

If the A14 comes from a FWD car, you may need to swap the oil pan, though I'm just guessing about that.

I've got an A15 in my ute out of a vanette and have no trouble with any under bonnet clearance problems. The ute crossmember in its original form will allow an A15 to bolt up. I'm not sure about the box - I'm not sure what box I have in mine. I would imagine any A series boxes would all bolt straight up - but someone correct me if i'm wrong.
I'd love a five speed but can't find one.

came across an a15 for $400 bucks locally, now from the tech section it says it "should" bolt into a ute, however when i put a 120y a12 in, it had different mounting points, so i altered them slightly from the a12a ones i had previously. It has all accesories and apparnetly is a good runner (read rebuild probably).
It should bolt in and there fore should bolt up to the stock 120y gearbox as well right?
is out of a van so will the manifolds still fit under the hood?
