fantasy engine, mid mount mr2 turbo motor in the tray of the ute and a big plastic bag to collect my anal deposits.
Reality, an a14 with a wild am, big webber and the horniest exhaust and induction noise with snap throtlle response.
or an a12 turbo

Well Quinn you are in luck . there is a long time 1200 racer in Auckland who has got just what your talking about. It is a super rare LZ16 in another coupe of his. The plan is to run it in classics. As far as finding another LZ head, you will struggle. There are 4 that I know of in NZ and none are for sale. Reg will know where some are but the will be very, make that VERY expensive. I heard some very big figures being offered fro Japan for these parts. As far as finding another one, my advice would be to start researching the old Formula Pacific class cars. A small number of them ran LZs instead of BDAs, track down the old owners and pick their brains. The search won't be easy but you are dealing with extremely rare parts. A contact I have in Japan has an injected LZ race coupe and it sits pride of place in his living room. He considers the car too valuable to race, but wants to built a replica !!Oh by the way the largest legal capacity was 1400 for the LZ as the 1400 Excellent was it homologation platform. The FJ was a development of the LZ but most classic racing groups would not accept it as the engine is the wrong generation. MG Car Club Wellington, my club, would probably allow one at their Whittakers meeting. Your other alternative is to build a replica of a 1200 that has raced in NZ. My rotary powered coupe is now eligible to race due to it being a former OSCA car with the rotang. I don't know of any V8 powered 1200s racing but there was at least 1 Chev powered 120Y OSCA car in the South Island. I think your best bet would be to find an old Shellsport coupe and built a strong A15 for it. The 1300cc coupes circulated Manfeild in 17's which would put you in the fastest classic grids with all the grunters like the Cobras, Vipers and Mustangs... If you have any more questions PM me and I'll give you my number and we can talk some more. Wayne..

hey stirlingmac you said that they (being nisan?) fitted the LZ20 into B110s. Do you have any more info on this class and mods? I want to build the most powerful 'replica' racer for clasics that i can and this might just be it but ive got to prove that the original was factory made and raced. PLEASE help me. the block only needs to be of the same family so if their hard to find i might be able to use similia nisan engine.
Cheers.

you guys have lots of imagination when theres no money involved.
i am supprised no one mentioned fitting an old F1 V6 turbo engine. it would be light, probably no cutting required and fit neatly in the engine bay. Not to metion the fact that it has the potential to produce 1300hp as they did in qualifying spec. when you work out the horsepower to cc ratio, these engines have more pwer to cc than top fuelers, AND they last a few laps under this kind of stress, as opposed to the top fuelers that get rebuilt after every run. i will mention, of course, that there engine would glow red and nearly melt, and would then be binned. i wonder what turbo technology would be like if the rules in F1 didnt change.......? forgot to mention that these engines were 1.5L for those who dont know.

The What's the best engine to put into a 1200? article has a link to the E15 discussion.

while we're on the subject..
how hard would it be to fit an E15 into a 1000/1200 ? we already know quite a few parts are similiar from these engines, and I have seen quite a few E's in pulsars that go hard with webers etc..
I can see maybe the dizzy, radiator hoses, and bellhousing would be the main problems, but it would be a different conversion 4 sure.
