The parts books say the 1971-1973 camshafts are different from the 1974-up. Though I'm not sure as even the 1200 camshaft appears to have two dizzy gear locations. To make it more complicated outside the USA there was a 1974-up A12, and in the USA a 1979-1981 A12A.

No no no! The A-12 camshaft is different from the others. The distributor and fuel pump are in different locations on the A-12. I think it may be pooible to use the a-14/15 cam in an A-12, with an electric fuel pump, but not the other way 'round. Now, an A-12a has the same dizzy and FP location as the others, just to confuse things.

I went through this a few years back memorys not that good but yes 12 small 14 bigger 15 little bit bigger not much.commercial 15 is very torquey down low revs thes have a black rocker cover
