#5 PROBLEM SORTED
britishcarfreak Posted on: 2003/7/21 2:20
I had trouble getting the bushes so I bored out a bit of rubber hose and used that as a sleeve over the locating pin. I placed a washer either side of the shaft so that sideways movement was restricted.

I now have a nice tight and reliable gear stick.

while your at it, along with the pivot bushings (#32), replace tha lower bushing(#33), and the boot (#36) that covers it all up.
the lower bushing will take the slop out of the shifter, and the boot will prevent any dirt from getting into things and causing premature wear.

I've posted a pic of the diagram so that everyone else can see what was needed. Thanks dattodude.

Definitely should have a nylon bush..You can still get them from nissan. Or make them yourself in a lathe with a piece of Nylon bar.

http://nissan1.motadata.co.za/images/9B3.GIF
Part: 32
Part Num: 32855-H1010
Desc: BUSH - CONTROL LEVER
Price: ZAR12.28 =>USD$1.50 each.

You need 2 of them. Nissan should be able to supply for less than $10.

#1 4spd box selector shaft problem
britishcarfreak Posted on: 2003/7/1 3:48
My 4spd box (attached to an A12 GX) has a sloppy selector shaft. It looks like it should have a bush or sleeve or something to hold it all together. I've included a pic of the shaft end so you can see the pin and circlip that hold the selector to the box. There is a huge amount of space around the pin.

Anyone got any ideas?

Have I got the wrong selector shaft?

Has some twat not put in the sleeve or bush?

Can I get a replacement sleeve or bush as a standard part or do I go see MR. Custom parts maker again?
