yer wat u have to do is ring transport sa or the modification hotline and get them to send u an aplication form to modify a motor vehicle. The guys on the phone wont tell u much and they can be cunts. u ave ta fill out the details of vehicle before modifications and then wat u want to modify eg motor, suspension, rims, tyres, brakes, chassis etc. U then post it back and they tell u if u can or cant do it and wat else u have ta do if its ok with them (eg. they may require u do a brake upgrade also). Then u gotta get it engineered (if significant changes have been made) which i was quoted 1500 by a few people and and they may make u do a road test at adelaide international raceway which costs 600. They dont seem to have a problem with engine transplants depending on car and motor just they dont like u moding a stok mota eg dont allow carb changes, no turbo if motor didnt come out of the factory with one, no aftermarket bolt on turbo kits either, must retain stock intercooler and piping and bov etc, no increase in standard motors capacity above 15% and the bullshit goes on. This is the trouble i had trying to get my turbo 180b done. Hopefully all goes smooth with my 1200. Anyway best of luk gettin ur car thru, let us no how ya go.

hey
i liv in sa! i had a ke30 rolla with a 2tgeu in it(1600 twin cam efi very old jap motor) i was selling it and the guy wonted the right engine #. on the rego papers! so i rang up regency! there is a modification #. I can get it if you cant find it im sure its in the white pages! (or ask motor reg. they told me i could go from a 1176cc to a 1587cc or somthing around the mark as long as it was leaded! yes i ran premeum in it but it was such an old motor that they belived me when i filled out the form as leaded! all you have to do is ring them and find out exactly wot you can do (without having to go to the parks and get it checked!) and go to motor reg. get the form ! its the same form as if you were just changing the motor cos the old one died!! i did all this and they just sent me a new sticker with the right eng. #. on it!!! Sweet! Note the guys on the phone on the modification #. are usually F*#K heads just be blunt they have just about every motor on file so they can find out! its just a matter of them looking!! and dont hang up till your sure you got everything you wont! and get there name if posible so if somethings wrong you know who to blame and abuse!! lastly when you ask them about your questions say " I PLAN TO PUT THIS A15 IN MY 1200" not "IVE PUT THIS A15 IN MY 1200" you get the drift!!! let us know how you go!! or if there is anything i can help you with!! good luck!

the engine capacity from an A12 to A15 goes up 300cc. In NSW you would have to obtain a certificate for any rise in engine capacity equal to or greater than 200cc. With this change a upgrade of brakes suspension is usually looked at as well to cope with the projected extra power you are attaining from the cc increase. As it is it would be approx 15-20% rise so that would have to be reflected in a 15-20% rise in braking capacity, strength in struts etc etc...
Its up to you and who you get to do you roadworthy certificate each year whether this would be simply be overlooked .....or some of the inspectors like here in NSW would give you a hard time over the increase.

Common guys, someone has to know if a-14 or a-15 conversions are legal here?
I have no idea who to ring about this, and i dont wanna ring someone and have them feed me a whole load of crap cos they dont understand what theyre talking about, like most at the DMV. You can view topic.
