Cheap way to do electric windows, yes. Auto up/down ... I don't know how to do that. I'll post in the main forum a new topic for it.

For my power window wires, I drilled 1/2 inch holes in the door and chassis, next to the existing door switch hole. Then I used plan 1/2 o.d. rubber tubing from a used car and ran the wires inside that. It worked perfectly, the hose didn't wear from chafing, and the wires were safely protected inside.
Now I am more horrifiied at the thought of drilling holes in my new 1200. I've been thinking of ways to do it without drilling ...

The hardest part of central locking install is to get the wires from under the dash to inside the door. You need to get some good quality rubber conduit, using another car's rubber thing might work, I never found one appropriate.
The solenoids that move the button up and down are easy enough to install. In a 4 door it took me 2 days to install because the back doors are hard to find a place to get the wires into the door. It wasn't easy, but it was cool when it was finished. Cheap kits come with low quality solenoids, so I recommend getting a good quality kit with waterproof solenoids, otherwise they'll fill up with water and seize up. That's one of the biggest problem with putting central locking in a Datto, as most dattos are leaky beasts when left in the rain. Chris

In regards to "flat battery" and no physical door locks..
I would recommend having a 12V GelCell hooked up with a switch and a relay. If you have a flat battery, the switch will throw a relay to "cut-out" the flat battery from supplying the central locking, and this Gel Cell will then power the central looking. That could be easily wired and stowed under the seat in the cabin. You should use a hidden magnetic reed switch (like those used on house sliding doors) to activate the relay to switch the powersource. You could easy plant the magnet in a safe hidden place somewhere on the underside of the car. Inside the Fuel tank panel is a good hiding place for a magnet. If you are also keen, you could wire the gelcell though a charging circuit to ensure that it's also charged properly from the alternator. If you have poorly wired thermofans or you forget to turn your lights off regularly, then this is a good idea. Chris
