14in low pro tyres

Tires that are shorter than stock will make the speedo read out high. It might say 100, but then you might be actually doing 90. The speedo cable gears can be changed to correct this.

Nicholas, call the manufacturer of your camshaft, and they will give you the recommended timing and clearances, and usually will supply information on using a degree wheel. You could also search the Internet for information on "camshaft degree wheel".

Play with the cam timing dude. Where'd you set it up at? The stock hole in the timing wheel could be anywhere now that it's been ground, and with a bit more compression and all it may even want to be setup as low as 102 degrees...
Also check your tappet clearances, the standard clearances dont apply to reground cams. If you set them to 18 thou, you end up with a cam with masses of overlap and no lift for the first and last 20 degrees of operation. Try around 30 thou.
have a chat to yer cam grinder...
shorter gearing will help. the 3.9 diff and 13 inch wheels is bloody optimistic for a 1200... at 7000 in top it'd be doing around 120mph
Somewhere around 4.4:1 works bloody well if you want to keep it singing, and you still get some economy with an overdrive gearbox.

1st-6500-7000 2nd-6500-7000 3rd-6500-7000 4th-4200 5th-n/a.

clock speed is 140kmp at 4200-4400. on the open road with the wind behind me!

1st-3rd pulls like a demon, what do you think about shorter gear ratio's to get me into higher rpm??

many thanks

Nicholas, there are two big reasons a car won't go any faster:

1. Engine cannot rev any higher
Like Rallytwit says, can you rev higher in third than in fourth? Does the engine go up to the revline at 140? If so you aren't going to go any faster without different gears or tires. If it just won't rev high to 6,000 rpm in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, then there is a mechanical problem

2. HP limit to top speed
Make sure you are in fourth gear, not fifth, so that you get the extra torque multiplication.

Lastly, how are you measuring the speed? If you are going by the speedometer, it may be off and maybe you are going faster! My speedo is off 7.5% and that's with stock size tires.

Also revelant: where are you doing this? On a road race track or a drag strip? 1/4 mile isn't very long to get up to speed and 140 kmh is very respectable for drag racing.

Simple. What's the difference between a KExx Corolla and a B120. Well the cylinders of K engines don't have offset f@cking bores, and head are better.. ehh I'll shut up now.

But Datsun's have a ute. I love my little 2dr Corolla but also owning a Datsun Ute would be really sweet. Also rolcages are F%%k loads easier to put into utes.

Just to state for the record I lve those little utes with a K powerlant

Just like to say my bog stock 79 2dr Corolla got 150km (with an easy 5min windup). Oh it has hurricance extractors and standard piss pipe exhaust. Could have got more but I have a chunked rimmed which let me know it was unbalanced by vibrating. Could have got another 10-15 km I think.

Fix you prob boy. Your bieng shamed by a stock toy(ota).

Oh yeah to add insult to injury, I've only got a 4speed box too!!

Must have a fuel prob I think. Not that I know.
