Hey all,
who knows if a supra tranny, is the same as a 200sx CAdet one? looking very similar. and are all w series the same dimensions? at first the awnser for "Converted" In the world of sevens this sylva made car is the absolute bomb in driving not for the looks there are more beautifull ones to be seen, but when it comes to the bendy bits it just eats them all. even a ducatti 916 MC could not keep up in the bends, it will out acclerate my striker on staights but on the next curve I'm very much in his rearview mirror again. hahahaha (the duc driver was my brother and he can drive!) anyway the car first came to be on Jermey phillips design table in 1985 (company MD for sylva autokits) the first one carried a 10A rotary engine, last year a company called RAW engineering took over the striker project from Sylva after 17 years of ongoing track succes with a virually unchanged chassis design. here's the latest chassis mk6 ![]() They now install different kinds of 4age engines in it, but can do anything motorcylce to, for instance there's a blackbird powered striker out on the open road in england which is pulling 0-100kmph in just 3.4 sec, and he's not convinced jet so next year a HoleShot racing turbo kit will be installed and he'll probably make sub 3's then. and top out somwhere in the region of 260kmp/h anyway Contact Mel coppock At http://www.rawengineering.co.uk and for pic's see http://www.striker.cauli.com Tsillay, Can I have some pictures of what you exactly mean, because my english is not that good when it comes to techical terms. thanks for the info, But what sort of ford box are you running on it, the same as I want T9. I understand from your list that you use an adaptor plate rather than a adaptor bellhousing. am I right? if so have you got a drawing of it, which I can use. anyway I now know I CAN BE DONE!!! thank you very much! And if Feral provides us with some nice warm Earl Grey, and some bisquits we should be done in an hour or so (sorry for that one hahaha) B310X, I know off demon cheeks, but in fact I never thought off them having such specialist stuff in their programm, I'll mail them straight away. (stupid me) The dutch importer of the RAW striker would mate the gearbox and the engine for me, but the price to do it costs me more than a complete totoya 4AGZE, maleisia import engine wich I can mount on a T9 for very little money. so that's the better option then I suppose. ayway I'm NOT unhappy with the performance of the x-flow ford lump, but No you don't want to rev it over 7500rpm, then again, if you put a cam in such an engine to have it producing power above that region (can be done at vulcan engines) You would have such a narrow powerband, you pobably could not use it on road good, and as said mine's not a race car but a damn fast road car. that's why the whole turbo/sc idea came to me in the first place. and with that in mind I can always upgrade the engine to higher rpm levels at a later stage. than a turbo system is better because the toyota supecharger won't rev over 10krpm (8krpm cranck) anyway I just need to have a box to suit, and then all tuning mania will probebly strat all over again. (hehehe) grtz Thomas

thomas, you're one english channel width away from a country that can supply anything you need.try the demon tweeks website, they will have bellhousings there somewhere,& can probably put you in touch with the manufacturers.or try someone local.there must be a motor racing association you can call for some advice.basically, dellows is just a mob doing castings,& any price advantage would be swallowed in freight.use the ford box, because i'm sure there'll be more of them kicking around than the toyota box.plus they used them behind sierra's,so they'll probably have some aftermarket parts.the web site for demon tweeks is www.demon-tweeks.co.uk.please don't think i'm being rude or such.& good luck with the search.that little toy will be a monster with the ca18,even at stock boost.paul.

Hiya
I have a ford box on the back of my CA. - Get a CA bellhousing - Bolt and dowel a plate on the engine face of it - pickup the centre of the box, and drill thru the plate (around 2 inch dia) - pull the plate off, run the bellhousing thru a bandsaw to approx the correct length. - Mill the cut flat - weld on a alloy plate, around 20mm thick - mill this flat, to exact length - put the plate back on - pickup the centre in the plate you've just welded on - bore the hole to suit the ford snout (this is perfectly round - add the 4 bolt holes to bolt the ford box on - turn down the ford snout to suit the nissan clutch bearing carrier - add a hole and cover to allow the selector rod to slide fore and aft - drill and tap a hole to put in a clutch arm pivot - make a crank spigot bearing - add a quaife gearkit - go racing!! I'll take a photo..

Hi Thomas !
I`ve already approached Dellows with the same questions. They didn`t want to know me! Something to do with no demand, no money in it etc............ The ca18 is not in Dellows books as a feasable venture even when I offered them more money than a regular conversion kit ! If you know a mate with a good machine shop you better go and see him. The size of the gearbox in a ca/1200 conversion seems to be a problem for plp who don`t like the idea of cutting up the car too much. Maybe if enough guys got together & approached Dellows it would offset the cost for the bell housing casting "pattern" ! This then might motivate & generate more of these conversions(and ditto with Dellows) Food for thought

By the way good choice going Nissan power...those Kent engines are dreadful..I raced Formula Ford 1600 for a little while and they evpensive to get HP and unreliable...blip the throttle over 8000 and you get bent vavles everywhere!!!
The A12 will go close to 8000 stock!!!

Hey all,
before someone starts saying this post is partly NON datsun, I would very much appreciate your help. I'a proud owner of a sylva striker MK III (like this one NOT MINE) ![]() I'm currently running a ford 1.6 gt kent engine in there, and regarding the weight of the complete car (530) kilogram it's pretty fast. however HP is very addictive so I went on looking for a new engine in it. I've been offered a CA18DET engine for a very good price, the only problem is the gearbox does'nt fit the chassis, it's to wide. the only 2 reasonable 5 speed boxes we can think of, that cope the power and fit, are The toyota T50 (ae86 corrola) and The ford Type 9 (commonly known as Type N, fitted in the early 1.6 and 2 litre OHC sierra's) toyota W series boxes are to wide. the ford type 9 ![]() the toyota T50 ![]() so I'm in search of either a very narrow 5 speed box which can bolt up to a CA18DET or a suitable bellhousing to mount the engine to a Type 9 ford or a T50 toyota, I preffer the ford one for it's strenght (300nm can go through without trouble) so if anyone can help me or point me in the right direction, I would be very pleased. Knowledge of these things is very very limmited in our part of the world. I allready send Dellow an e-mail and am awaiting response. best regards Thomas Rouw (holland) RouwT@hotmail.com ps It will be the fastest road going striker in the country. on a bugget.
