Stainless Steel Moulding Repairer

Hi i've tried looking for this body moulding for my 240K coupe and I cant find anything, tried going to sheet metal workers, metal fabricators and they wont do it. So what I might do now is look for someone who can straighten the mouldings and then just polish or chrome them.
There is only one in QLD who repairs these but he's very busy and he told me call him back around 5-6 months as his work piled up big time. Anyone knows a person/place that does this sort of thing? need help badly

I don't know about chroming stainless , but I thought that chrome was just a thin film over whatever base.
Therefore I think you will find that the finish would follow the existing contours on the part. That would leave you with a chromed dent instead of a stainless dent. ![]()

I'm talking about dipping the steel into chrome...
last time I chromed my centre console (plastic) and the actual chrome is like 2mm thick and the dents are not that deep so might cover them...hopefully

I had a bit of spare time a while ago and straightened some mouldings (1600 bonnet and light surrounds) that were pretty beat up. I made up some wooden patterns - 5 mins with a saw and rasp, and used a panelbeaters hammer to knock them into shape. Then after getting them as close to OK as possible use a metal file to take out any high spots then sand in stages untill youre at about 600 grit, then steelo pads and a polishing buffer. I was surprised how well they turned out as I was going to throw them away. You definitely won't need to chrome them, just polish will still look good. I'd say try it

A mate of mine fixed his mouldings using a roller that is used to assemble flyscreens and laid the moulding is a sand base might work for you or a bloke in Brissy who did all my chromework might be able to help his name is Rob ph0408708678.
I gave him some rooted overriders and they came back fantastic Ade
