#1 Help, brake booster problem
Abyss Posted on: 2004/5/5 5:19
Hello all,

I did a stanza strut/disc upgrade on my ute over the weekend and all went well until I tried to fit a 120y brake booster!!!

I have done a search and had a read of some of the posts (first 100 anyway) but it still didn't answer my question.

The issue I have is that with the ute(84), there is a dip in the firewall where 2 of the mounting bolts go which means that these bolts (left hand) are now not long enough. Has anyone extended these bolts somehow? The centre hole needs to be enlarged which is relatively easy to fix but it also looks like the push rod is too long and doesn't have enough adjustment to attach it to the brake pedal

Has anyone overcome these problems and fitted one of these to their ute?

I know it probably doesn't need a booster but I would like to put one on and I have 2 of them to play with.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Peter

In regards to the firewall, I had the same problem with my 1200 when I fitted a 180B booster. To overcome this I made up a plate which goes onto the fire wall. With two extra bolts off to the left. It was made from 100 x 5 flat steel bar and really strengthed up the firewall which was flexing. Can email pix if u like.

With the push rod, I modified the fitting which screws on the end. Simply by re-drilling it and cutting off the excess.

Hope this helps

A pic would be great, you can e-mail it to me at peter.steinback@bsa.qld.gov.au

This is all that is stopping me from getting it back on the road and then I can try out the new springs, shockies, bushes and brakes!! Should be a huge improvement.
