Adjustable coilovers

Who has adjustable coilovers in their 1200? I am thinking about them in the front end of my ute. And also with sway bars, I have been warned off them in a ute because it will reduce rear body roll and be more likely to pump out sideways. What do you think?

Custom adjustable coilovers on the front, can sometime strain the space to fit wheels.
It may give you the ability to change the height of the car, But it also risks the springs popping out (unless they are wired to the cups) If you get them, get them in combination with a set of adjustable strut tops. Get them with smaller diameter springs too. Getting them just to adjust the height is not worth the expense. The car is either just right or too low, unless you change girlfriends regularly and need adjustable springs to cope with the load changes ![]() As for front sway bar..get a 120Y one (with all brackets and rubbers, if you've got a CA18 (check that it fits, depending on the engine position). Getting a good spring and shock insert combination is the first thing to improve handling. Chris

Don't need the ute any lower already scrubs enough, the front end is pretty well standard and just bounces alot. I just want to tighten it up a bit cause when turn it leans a bit too. I know if I want less scrub I should change the rims but I think 17's look trick. Correct spring/shock combo sounds like what I need. I was just tossin up anyway. Thanks for that mate. Nathan.

Just see JohnTaylor at Pedders Penrith (02 4731 2444) and he will sort out all your suspension requirements. Personally I think adjustable spring height is unecessary for the road, and you wouldnt be racing your ute...but speak to John anyway. Tell him Craig from the Datsun club sent you and he will give you an unreal price.

I have them at all 4 corners in my sedan. My car is setup for tarmac rally. Gives me good adjustability to suit my driving style.

John did all the work on my suspension on my ute and i could not be happy with the handling it turns in good and has nice control under power. Il be interested to see how it goes with the CA in and #### loads more power but il go straight back to john if theres a problem his good at what he does. Cheers Luke

John is a good guy, and definately knows his stuff.
Another option, if your interested..... I can supply you with a kit to convert your current struts to height adjustables. The kit includes; threaded tube (advise diameter of struts), lower spring seats, upper spring seats, and adjusting spanner. This kit is designed for smaller diameter springs - springs are not included, but are also available. Cost is $345 (inc GST) Each kit will do both front struts. Fitting is also available upon request. Pic of kit fitted to struts can be seen here: MPA Motorsports Suspension Page Note: Adjustable strut tops (pictured) not included. Cheers, Mark.
