#1 seats for ute????
ANGE Posted on: 2004/9/28 8:55
im interested to know what sort of seats have been used successfully in 1200 utes...

im after something that offers more comfort (to absorb some of the bumpy ride) and more support (so that i dont fall out of the seat around quick corners)

im nearly 6 feet tall and dont want to comprimise cabin space...

i just trial fitted a set of honda prelude seats today and although they offered the look and feel i was after... it was just too cramped!!

do i need to stick with my originals????

sorry for the long post...

I have successfully fitted racaro seats from a 200sx. they sit lower allowing some knee room around the steering wheel and give you about 30-50mm extra room between the seat back and steering wheel.
The only better option I can think off is a real fibreglass race seat like Racetech with minimal padding.

are they factory fitted recaro's?
if so what model 200sx?

and do you have any pics of them installed?

im struggling to imagine how they would give extra room between the seat back and wheel since the originals are paper thin??

they are the same seats that come out in corollas, bighorns, hilux's, not sure what version 200sx as I got them S/H
I will try and get one up next week, they have been dummy fitted in another ute while mine is being painted.

I have sparco's (did you see on sunday?) & like dattodevil said they give you heaps more room.

Really the race seats wouldn't be more than about 50mm thick at the back, and you can mount them much lower than the factory seats. This means you don't hit your head, and you have more legroom. One of the best purchases l made.

My '73 ute has Daytona semi-racing buckets fitted. There is plenty of room for me - 6'0" and 17stone. But, I cannot find a home for the pinch-bar that I need to get me out of the seat! So, they are coming out, and will find a new home in my son's 1600.

I, too, am looking for seats to fit the ute.

A bighorn is a 4WD made by Isuzu (GM) they are sometimes called jackaroo or Irmscher. I am refering to the japanese version with the recaro interior
