#1 RWD/FWD ? ? ? ?
Demojob Posted on: 2005/1/16 8:49
Hey guys I'm in need of a little help.
What are generally tthe differences in the same engine but in different configuration (FWD/RWD).
In specific the SR20DET what are the differces you'd have to overcome to fit a FWD SR20DET into a RWD car (datto)????

Thanks for any help

All Manifolds + new gaskets.
All addons like piping etc.

If you've got an old SR20DET, it would be a good idea. If you've got plenty of time, then it's a good idea.

But the blocks will be the same, the heads can be different (if we are talking GTiR).

The clutch and flywheel may be different. Gearbox is obviously different.

As we know..making the engine mounts is the easiest part of a conversion.

The potential expenses over an original RWD SR20DET (not including at least 8 hours labour) will amount to more than AU$1000.

if your chasing huge power numbers though, id take the time and convert a gtir sr20, cause then u get a better designed head, 4 throttle bodies and the block is 13mm thick, where as all the other sr's are 10.
