Does anybody know the ratio of the diff in my '81 720 ute. It has N2 on the top of the housing. Ute is an 1800, 4speed.

It will take you about 5 minutes to work out yourself.Step 1,put the car on the ground on its normal road wheels.Step 2 mark the top of the tyre on the sidewall. STEP3 Crawl under the car and mark the tailshaft anywhere you will be able to watch it from the ground.Step4 get a mate to push the car forward or backward one full revolution of the tyre till your referance mark is back at the top, whilst he is pushing you are counting
the revolutions of the tailshaft using your mark on tail shaft as referance,I imagine it will be somewhere between 3.6-4.1. NOTE This system will not work if vehicle is off the ground unless the diff has been locked
Cheers Bert
