#1 gearbox ratios
fish Posted on: 2005/6/16 13:26
Can anyone tell me the gearbox with the better ratios. The stumpy skyline box or the stanza sss box. Both are 5 speeds.I am having one or the other made up to fit my a series engine. It is for a race car that has to run datsun gear and not toyota so the toyota convertion is not aloud. Can anyone help Thanks.

the stanza 5spd has better ratios. The Skyline box has a bit of a gap between 2nd and 3rd that would be absolutely terrible with an A series. The Stanza box doesn't have that problem.

what class of racing?

The class is called under 1600s and in the class you are only aloud to use parts from the same make of car.I have been trying to get the a series bellhousing for the 63a box but are as rear as hens teeth so wil have to get this box made to fit.The engine is an a15 with twin dellortos extractors and uses methanol fuel. But the gap between 2 and 3 is a pain in the arse.

you've got me stumped! what category allows methanol fuel but only parts from the same manufacturer? I'm guessing its a speedway thing?
