Hey guys want to get as much info from you regarding engineering an SR20DET in a 1200 ute. Supposidly it cant be done in queensland from unreliable sources. just seen the Finished Mini me - (AWSOME JOB!!) and thats fully engineered right? Mini Me - can you give us some information on what the engineer requiered for brakes etc. Apparentley its "easier" to register and engineer mod ect in NSW?????

i doubt it would be easier in NSW. it is a canberra car. you cannot get a sr20det engineered in a 1200 in nsw.

Mate the best thing to do is ring as many engineers as you can to discuss the project. I personally know of two SR20DET 1200 utes in Queensland (one built and engineered in Canberra).
Engineering a SR20DET in NSW is apparently not legal according to the RTA but I have spoken to an engineer who would pass it in Sydney (I'm talking a few years ago though). As far as the brakes and the conversion itself have a look on www.valvebounce.com or PM me for more information. BTW - My mate involved the engineer from day 1 and spoke to him during the project. Best advice I can give.

Brakes up front are Mitsubishi Verada discs with Commodore Calipers on a modified 180B strut (sourced from Stewart Wilkins Motorsport).
Back brakes are VN V8 discs and calipers (shortened axel modified BW LSD diff out of a VN V8 Commodore). The brakes also use a brake bias switch (must be set and disabled for rego). You can view topic.
