#1 MY RESULTS FROM MT COTTON
steveo Posted on: 2005/7/11 11:12
It was a windy and cold day out at Mt cotton yesterday(10th) but it was worth it, i bettered my PB from 56 to 53.3sec, even though my coupe handles like a shopping trolley, but it's a work in progress.

that's a big improvement steveo, well done. And yeah, theres heaps of development left which will make it loose a few more seconds I reckon.

Is your coupe CA powered. Good on ya. 3sec is a good improvement. Harry what time does the L series powered coupe lap Mt cotton in? When I find the time and mainly money I have got to come down and have ago. Praying something doesnt let go. ie Gearbox

I've done a best of 48.37. but that's in a very well setup car with a top bhp 1995cc L18, and a few years exeperience at the hill.

Steveo's is basically a street car, and is a bit too soft really, and he hasn't been at it very long. 53 is very respectable for a street car.

When I first went there I think my times were around the 55-56 mark on street tyres and a warmed over L20.

Freak, if you ever bust a box, let me know I have a few 56a 4spds sitting around that I don't need - $20ea or the lot for $50 (can't remember if there's 3 or 4 of them...)

yeah theres nothing wrong with the power, i got power on tap!

The only thing it needs is better suspension, because at the moment it still handles like a shopping trolley, as harry said it's too soft.
The front guard still scrubs under brakes when coming down the hill. but i'll sort that out before the next round, which is in september i think.

Fairly mild WRXs on good tyres are in the low 50s. Theres a few well modified and driven WRXs and a Skyline GTR N1 that run mid to high 48s. A couple have managed high 47s. But there's one WRX which is just totally off the planet and has the record for AWD turbo cars at 44.75. This is a staggering time for a tin top on DOT tyres. To put it into perspective, the over 2L sport sedan (basically unlimited mods, slicks and wings) is 43.31. The over 2L Improved Production record is 45.70, but no-one has broken out of mid 47's in over a decade...

I think Andrew should make a trip up here...

Agreed. I'd love to see Andrew's coupe tear up Mt Cotton.
Your times are pretty impressive when compared to Evo/WRX brigade.

THAT WOULD BE NICE TO SEE!!!!

I think in october, mg car club has an 'ironman' event, which basically is a weekend of racing. the event starts off on friday night with a navigation run around brisbane, Saturday is at Queensland raceway and sunday is at Mt cotton. i personally haven't done the nav run, but last year i did QR and Mt cotton and it was a good weekend. of course you gain points for each different event and at the end of the three days the person with the most points wins, it's always the porsche's that win.

How about some of the boys for down south come up for the weekend????

WELL????????????
