hey guys, was gonna start a new thread but saw this one. was just wanting to know if anyone can recommend a person or company that does good brake conversions at a good price in sydney. got some money back for tax and seeing as though i need big brakes for engineering might as well look into it now.

Kev rowley does very nice brake conversions, he uses 120y struts and has a fitting kit to fit CA18 (single piston) and SR20 (twin piston, hard to find though) silvia brakes and skyline brakes. the only prob with using skyline 4 pot calipers and discs is that the track of the front wheels are slightley wider - wider than the rear, because of the large caliper. (apparentley thats bad??). Iv seen it on a ute before, with massive gaurd flares to keep the wheel in the arch!! you also have to re-drill the disc to four stud pattern (120Y strut). The Sr20 or ca18 brakes work perfect though - Kev has customers that do track work with either Sr20 or Ca18 brakes with great success. On the rear they use the disc combintaion from a R31 skyline with Diff. the brakes work fine with the Standard master cylinder - you can put a booster in if you want a soft pedal - although theres no room on the fire wall with SR motor - remote booster???. Kev has had a brake test done on this brake set up and is with in engineer requierments by miles. people also believe that skyline breaks are an over kill - saying that exessive "lock up" is a possibility. IN all honesty Im going to Use the SR20 break set up iv seen it work and is easy to do. hope that helps. Supply Kev with the struts, Breaks, discs - also you need '78 onwards 120Y struts they have discs and also use larger PBR calipers, and he'll make it so you can bolt it straight up to your 1200. Hope that helps.
