overkill is using a cannon to kill as mosquito.
an RB26DETT in a datsun, well thats just like using a nuclear bomb to kill a mosquito.

altho it wood be good to see you do something different. id say go for it. the gearbox on the 26 is different to the one on the 25's so it might take a bit more work to get it in (you can always swap back to the stumpy from the 25). the engine is much the same as a 25 (just look at all the r33 gts-t's getting around with a 26 block).

if u did go for it id ditch the sequential twin turbs and go for a single huffer (easier, less space in engine bay taken up)

there would be a bit of work in getting the 26 block to sit on the mounts in the bay.
new cross member and gearbox mounts mods too. then u need a tail shaft, diff, wiring, fuel....... life insurance

I've seen a 120Y w/ a RB20, so I guess the RB26 is a logical progression.

I can't see you getting it registered though.... Unless you live in Canberra.

I have heard of plenty of holden 202s in 1200s (not regestered) so i carnt imagine a rb would any longer. Its good to do somthing different but warning it will cost

ahaha. one word .... AWSOME
Go for it man. Its going to cost a bit though.
I second the "go for one huffer instead of the twins" comment. Definately need as much space in the bay as you can get.

i would have thought that someone seriously wanting to put a RB26 in a 1200 would know that with the brakes you'll need the biggest possible, and the suspension will need heaps of work front and back, including heavy springs with matching shocks and swaybars at the front so you can turn coners wtih the weight of the engine, and at the back it would almost be worth getting rid of the leafs all together and getting a 4-link or similar. then again you could just keep it standard and see how long you live?
sorry i don't think that other peoples opinions should matter, anything is possible, it is just if you have the time and/or money to do it. good luck with it if you do choose to go ahead
