#1 USA made 1976 honeybee carburetor help???? pleeeeeeeeze!
tyler477 Posted on: 2006/6/23 7:54
so.... just got a great original honeybee! started up great first 30 times, then died while driving!!!!! popped the clutch, nothing, seemed like accelerator did not give gas..... plugs are good, compression is there. noticed bad gas mileage on freeway, but just thought it was the guage.
took the carbie off, bought rebuild kit.... boy those hitachis are a bitch to take off!!!
fueal is being delivered to the carb. when i took the carb off i noticed excessive gas inside.... i'm positive it was flooding out.
something to do with the automatic choke? i think the carb was original @ 126 or 226k miles.

any ideas? i am gonna do the rebuild anyway, any tips on making it easier?

your help is muuuuuch appreciated!

you probably don't need smog inspections anymore, get a weber!

actually, i do thanks to the governator bitch ass mofo! i want a weber, but it will get me better gass mileage to use the hitachi, plus i want to keep it original. think it's the choke release?

properly tuned webers get good gas milage - it's all the extra power that a weber brings that makes you get bad milage. ;)

too bad i recently sold my emissions carb for like $5

is the fuel bowl lever correct?

"governator" means he's unlucky enough to be here in alta california

i'd never mess with a '76 or newer datto unless i lived in a state with no smog check

(but obviously b210sleeper doesn't mind)

i was hoping to be legal.

the state would rather i bought another newer car and paid higher VLF.

i bet 1975 and earlier cars went up in value a bit after that happened.

a rebuilt carb should be about $150, then all you gotta do is hook up all those vacuum lines, but since you're a 76 model it's probably much easier.

the carbie was soaked with gas when i yanked it off..... it seemed like it was trapped in there, amd the car wouldn't fire when we put gas directly in the carb. the lines all looked decent, could it be a vacuum leak? as i said it died while driving,.... going down a hill i might add.

how do i check the fuel bowl level? this is my first attempt at rebuilding my hitachi..... it is smogged already, anyone got a weber and manifold they want to get rid of? or just a manifold?

the weber 32/36 dgav just needs an adaptor plate.

there is a little glass window with a mark that shows where the fuel level should be.

you may want to have an expert rebuild that thing, i was never brave enough to do it.
