How much should I cut my stock front springs to get it about two inches lower?

I usually allow for and extra 1/2inch drop after the weights on it. So take about 1.5" off.

look at the springs when they have weight on them, measure 2 inchs, count the number of coil, then cut that many coils

I have a mate who has an old 1974 lancer, use to be called PINK BITS and we lapped in IPSWICH back in the mid 90's. BOGANS. Anyway we went for the up market "BOSCH" suspension and lopped 2 coils off each front side, it sat a little low but it was a sweet ride. One day we hit a big pot hole, BANG, snapped another coil off, we sood back, looked at it and went bugger it and lopped 1 more coil off the unbroken side, man it sat real mean looking but we had to cut the bump stops in half. POINT BEING, IF YOUR GUNNA CUT YA SPRINGS AT LEAST GET IT DONE BY A PRO.

Screw paying someone to cut coils. In a macpherson strut as long as its not cut to crazy levels and still retains most of its travel its nbot really dangerous.

How can a coil snap off??????? just becasue its a cut spring

I imagine there's a reason why this is illegal in Australia...at least I've been told it's illegal?
