i am in the process of looking for new front shocks for my ute but before i go and buy anything i want to know which ones i have.
i have searched but cant find anything to help me identify the differnet types out there since i am not sure which ones kmy car has. the ute has a disc brake front end with trx rims which dont scrub if that helps and it very low any help would be appreciated. thanks, Ariel

Does your ute have non-1200 struts?
One method of identification is to remove one strut, & remove the shock from it & check the part number stamped into it. Go to that makers website & find the part number in the Nissan/Datsun listing. You would really only need to check the 1200/120Y/Sunny listings at first, then the 1600/180B/200B listing as this would cover about 99.9% of strut conversions in drum braked 1200's in Australia. This would be a measure of last resort, but it would work.

Another method is the visual method. See Strut Photo Index.

Some struts have part numbers on them. Do any of yours? post up the numbers, and I can tell you what car they come from.
