Hey guys and gals,
its been a while since youve heard of me but its for good reasons..... Ive been busy gettin the ute ready for paint. Ive have had all the paint off and finally got it to the point where i was happy and got some paint on. Here it is in the booth ready to be painted..... ![]() ![]() And now for some paint.... Tell us wat u think of the colour. ![]() ![]() So from here i need to w/d the whole car with 1200 and then a final 2 pack clear. all the other products ive been using are acrylic, but we decided to put a 2 pack finnish to help protect the acrylic. So what do you think of our first crack at a respray???

Looks great, I like how you went the extra little bit and remover the recesses in the top of the quarters from under the bed hooks.
Whats the ute in your avatar? It looks like the finished product. Most painters will warn against painting 2pack over acrylic. It will eventually crack because you are putting hard paint over a flexable paint. In the sun the acrylic will move ever so slightly and the 2pack will have to give somewhere. Will take time to show, but most painter tell that it will show. Acrylic takes more work to keep looking good, but acrylic clear gives a better shine.

Yes I added the shelf for the hardcover, and those pis would be great! When i first bought the car it was that colour so i dont kno wat it is but i got the colour matched, so i wouldn't have to paint the inside of the cabin and hopefully the inside of the doors, plus i liked the colour. the pic in my avartar is wen i got the car and ut my new superlites on and made the H/C so the car still isn't finnished. Thanks for the advice Phunk ill have a serious think about that. But in the paint specs. it said they were compatable, and the guy in the paint shop who paints cars said they would be fine together. but i guess it is all about experience which im still gaining
thanks for your reply's guys Peter

I've read somewhere about not mixing acrylic and 2 pak due (a) diff cure rates (b) diff rate of expancsion and contraction.....aparantly early 90's comonwhores and magnas had this with bad results???

Yeah thanks for the advice guys! Ive been out and bought some acrylic clear today and put it on. Ill let it cure for a week or 2 then cut it back with 2000 and then buff it with extra fine cutting compound i bought. Will post pics when its all polished.
Thanks again guys you may have saved me some hardwork! Peter You can view topic.
