I was driving my sedan tonight with the CA18 and skyline stumpy box and I tried to grab 5th gear and the gear stick got stuck in the 5th position but is not giving any drive.

Does anybody have any idea what might have happened and how I could fix it?

If it sounds to you like it could be fixed easily then let me know because I was planning on taking it to phillip island on the weekend!!!!

I've got a spare stumpy 5 speed at the moment as my coupe wont be going anywhere for a little while - if it gets desperate you can drop in a grab it. (You'll recognise it as I think you sold it to me)

Pull the pin & lift the gear lever out. I think that you will find that the gearbox is in neutral & the gear lever has jumped out of the selectors & is in the fifth gear posituon, stuck there on the wrong side of a selector rail.
If it really IS in neutral, then refit the lever & don't be so 'vigorous' with the shift untill after the nationals when you will have more time to see what's worn & needs repair or replacement, to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Believe it or not I was being quite gentle with it at the time which was why it was even more bizarre.
