Front brakes/struts are a thing to ask as some like to see upgraded disks like stanza or sunny etc.
Fuel lines, some allow copper some don't (I found out the hard way mine didn't like copper, even though he approved 2 conversions before mine with copper lines) If you using harnesses what requirments etc for mounting. Transmission mount (I had to have mine bolt through the chassis rail (with crush tubing inside). Is a tailshaft loop required? Find out if he wants one of those installed. Ask about if he has any preferences as to where he will allow you to mount to fuel pump and surge that way you can bounce ideas and designs off him. Thats all I can think of off the top of my head, but dattodude has probably given you all those things to ask. Cheers Damian

Appart from whats been mentioned
Seatbelts if you are upgrading to retractable belts as I did the engineer will tell you how they are to be fitted. Aftermarket seats. I got a problem with this at the moment as I hace lowered the oroginal rails in the coupe with new mounts welded to the floor. Engineer dont like this and working towards solution at the moment. Location of fuel system components, for example I was not alowed to fit a fuel filter under the bonnet. Yes trivial this one. Show him or discuss engine and trans mount. Mine had a specific way to do gearbox mount and strengthening the floor pan. Any holes you want to cut. eg intercooler.

Quote:
is this the heaviest datsun 1200 produced???(700kg) The way it's calculated Demo is off the heaviest variant of the model available. For a 1200 that would be the wagon, which weighs in at 730kg (1825cc). So even if you have a 690kg 1200 ute the displacement is calculated off the wagon. To the other boys that have replied so far, cheers. As most of you would know when developing a build strategy to work around with the engineer you invariably miss a few points. Kirstie put the post up for that reason. Our engineer seemed quite happy about the ideas I've relayed to him over the phone, and he seems a really helpful bloke. So touch wood by next Thursday the final trial fit will be done and the paint prep can get underway.

ask about engine management if you plan to go aftermarket.
He may want to see the factory ecu used.

i asked the heaviest weight
and i am aware how to calculate it thats why i used 700 as i was not aware what the heaviest model is thats why i asked the heaviest weight anyway to any1 that can tell me what year did retractable belts come in??? How did you strengthn floor pan??? what did seat rails require??? how is surge and filters mounted in ute by engineer requirements??? on a previous car i was told to strengthn things off 1 engineer i got it engineered off another guy and he said what did you do that for its not needed and living in sydney i looked and there is alot of people that do it i only have 3or 4 to choose from so if he is fussy maybee see another guy mines getting done within a few weeks WANTED WHEELS SUIT 1200 pm me if price is good thanks
