Nobody modifies their car to turn a profit! If you hate tghe way your car goes, then you can modify it. You can do a few basic mods for around the same cost as buying a CA18det, but the other associated upgrades add up to quite a bit more. Horses or courses really. If you don't mind driving a lame duck run with it. If you NEED more get up and go, soup the bastard up. The cost of an upgrage is directly propertional to how much you can do yourself.

i got a one owner lovely ute 5 years ago and have done every mod or am going to
