#1 How to wirie up a Fuel Pump?
grall3 Posted on: 2008/4/19 5:33
Hello, I need to know how to wire up a fuel pump and where and how to wire the fuel pump relay?

I have a 120y with an L20B in it, all I know is it has something to do with the neg coil. Has anyone got a wiring diagram?

Thanks, p.s, I tried the search.

normally there is minimally a relay that turns power to the fuel pump on only if the key is in on.

using the - coil signal would do that.

you could also run the relay off the +12 signal that is made when the key is on.

either way use a relay.

Okay, thanks for that.

ok buddy 87 on relay goes to fuel pump positive, 85 is a ground to body, 30 is positive battery, n 86 is switch power etc coil ignition switch being a low pressure pump it would be wise to put a 7.5 amp fuse in circuit!

go to http://www.ado13.com/techs/relay.htm for more info!!

Hey Jordan. Did you get the green lemon back on the road?
Don.

This is how I've done mine.
There was a thread about this a while back but I can't find it.
Basically, oil pressure turns on relay.

That's a smart idea ang. It's easy with efi computers because they will have some funciton in them that will stop runnign the fuel pump when the motor stops. Don't just wire it up to the ignition, it will be running if the engine stops for any reason. If you have a stack, more importantly, you don't want the fuel pump to be pumping fuel to a potential fuel leak or fire.

Hey thanks guys for the info, I appreciate it. Nice drawing :). Its dark now, so I'll have to have a look another day. We fiddled with it today and couldnt get it working correctly, but now I got some info.

No Don, got an engineers report, and it failed, now I'm fixing the stuff the engineer picked, one of them being a fuel relay cut off. I still can't believe he picked a hole in the carpet.

You can get relays that are used in cars running on gas that rely on a tacho signal from -ve coil terminal to remain switched on. Once your engine stops, the relay cuts power to the pump. And they prime the fuel system for a few seconds as soon as you switch the ignition on as well.

Bsng... Lpg safety switch is a fantastic cheap choice for the relay. I have got one here you can have if you want Jordan.
