when reinstalling timing chain does the engine have to be tdc or can it be bdc or does it not matter thanks

Yeah the first cylinder needs to be TDC so that you can align the timing marks on the cam gears with that on the crank.
What kind of engine is this for?

its for an a15 just put a new cam in and am putting it back together thanx
