Has any body used a lightened flywheel on they're a series....... the ones of ebay..... are they any good????? and any advantages???

they let the engine rev faster,

i have got 9500rpm out my A10

the ones on ebay are pretty pricey,as long as you've got a spare flywheel you get them machined for a hell of alot cheaper at your local machine shop or engine re-builder, mine cost me $120.

or just inroll at tafe learn a bit about machining and then get on the lathe and machine one up

I just got my own fly wheel machined, a mate did it, more go and stops faster to when you back of the gas. cant see the nead to pay top dollar for one

but you gotta keep that bihotch idling at higher rpms.. thats probably the only downside

It does not allow the engine to rev faster, as in higher RPM, but it does allow the engine to accelerate more quickly.
The downside is that the damping effect of the rotating mass is less & the flywheel can no longer offer the same smoothing effect on the engine at low speed, such as idle & a faster tickover is often needed.

Then again, light flywheels usually end up on hot engines with improved cams, so a faster idle is often the norm anyway.

I used a flywheel of about 6kg [13lbs] & found this to be fine but the ones on eBay are often half this figure & are really much better suited to racing applications.

yep huge advantage as far as revving to 7500 and beyond...I have a new one in the shed I wont be using you can have for $100 done by Jeff Taylor. Im located in seven hills. PM me if interested
