I'm considering fitting a sidedraft carby to my A12. The old one's on it's last legs, so something special is in order.

Not interested so much in power as opposed to efficiency........I'm lying, give me all the power you can give!

As far long term use goes, I generally putter along to work then back home and sometimes go for drive up to the north coast of TAS. Is, say a DCOE, designed for this kind of driving, or is there an alternative that would suit my engine?

Is the engine otherwise stock? if it is and its intended to stay that way (ie, no cam, head work, exhaust, etc.) probably best just getting hold of the down draft webber and a fitting plate... they give good power without the expense of a whole new manifold...

Yes, the DCOE is engineered to do that kind of driving. Its specialty is performance and easy changing of jetting for varying conditions and race environments.

The stock Hitachi's specialty is puttering around, do might be a better choice.
