this is as close to if not the first day i bought my 1200, it was the 2nd 12 i owned after having 1 120y coupe followed by a 1000 2dr sedan ... ![]() ![]() ![]() this was the inside once i stuck in some carpet and a dodgy gear boot for the RWC ... ![]() this was the first set of alloys that went on over its life so far ... ![]()

a little bit of history on this 12 ...
i'm the 2nd owner, i have all the orig papers for it including a bunch of the early service papers, and the orig plates. i bought the 12 from a deceased estate for the cost of the capacity back in 2003, since then all sorts of things have happend to it which will follow as i get the thread going ... it's now seen track days and alot of "cruises", nothing from under the bonnet thru to the exhaust tip or rear wheels is original, except the capacity inside is pretty much the same as i got it, only real changes have been a set a 240z buckets trimmed to suit the orig trim, or a fixed back seat for the track, and a new stereo which i kinda regret cutting into the dash

![]() this pic is out at Feral Errol's place ... the champion from Datrats. this is where my A12 was built. the engine and original suspension were donated from an autoX sedan i had bought with a friend. It wasn't getting built real quick and then my mate got married and somehow all the good bits ended up in my sedan !?!!? slightly lowered and still running front drums. the engine had a Cam, flat top pistons and a GX head ... during the rebuild ALOT was spent on head work and balancing ... now sees 8500rpm no worries and hasn't missed a beat since going in. ![]() also had a 2" exhaust from the cast manifold back.

there's a bit of a big hole in the photo history of my 12 here ... i did have all the pics from the engine build and install but these were on a friend's computer that had a major breakdown
so all gone bye bye .....

alrighty ... the motors now in so lets pretend we've seen the pics
next was the little bits of rust that came with it when i bought it ... ![]() this is a before and after of the little rust in the rear quarter on the drivers side .... the passenger side is all good ![]() this is a cut and re-roll of the front of the guards i had done to maintain the strength and also the 'factory' look of the guard. this was done to fit some 15x6" skyline rims (pics of them will follow shortly) ![]() this is about the max of rust in the front guards cant complain for that amount of rust in a 30+ year old datto !!

well look what i found !!! an orig piccy of the upgraded A12gx ... twin hitachi's and all
![]() ![]() it was even complete with Fanta ignition !! it didnt last long before a set of webers found their way onto the lil' ol' A12 ... ![]() not too bad 'cept for that rocker cover the color was the easiest way to come to a compromise with my 'supposed' better half in relation to the cost of the build along with the webers came an electronic ignition dizzy ... ![]() and then a little while down the track a nice datto blue DATSUN rocker cover apperared !! also the original BOOFBAR !!! with dodgy end plates and all !! ![]() You can view topic.
