I'm also having a few issues with doors - I have to slam them to close properly. I'v a 3week old son who gets such a shock when i close the doors, it makes my heart sore!

i was quoted between US$400 & US$700 to repair the visible rust damage and a full respray with 2k paint. I dont know if its worth it... as it stands, I still have to replace my carb!

go get a new body dude. u'll be pissed a few years later if u do get this fixed then just have to do it all over again.get one in better nick atleast. lol, im sure theres gotta be some better quality ones out there

Does anyone have any tips for what to look for when buying a new/another body? Any estimates on a cost?

Well, I just had a think about it... If i were to get a body - basically a car without engine and maybe missing a few other odds and ends for a reasonable price, I may be willing to do this...

But I'm planning on moving to SA early next year (Cape Town specifically) and I think it would be a waste to undertake an entire project right now...

So I'll probably fix this up as best I can and sell it just before I leave and hopefully buy another that will be in better condition when i'm in SA.

My wife isnt too fond of old cars, so I may have to buy a modern car as a daily driver and get a 1200 as a hobby car...

Drive the old rust bucket for a while then find one with a good shell but crap mechanicals.............swap a roo and you're done.

As for the wife and old cars, My wife's friends ask how she deals with my hobby.........her answer for years has been he's not hanging out in the pub and it keeps me mellow.

My wife hates my 'old' stock 1200 sedan -- but she likes my new 1200 bakkie with the shiny paint and modern wheels. So if you buy a nice one, already looking good -- she might be OK with it.

For Zim, you might wait until you move to ZA, they have more 1200s for sale there. On the other hand, with the Zim economy as it is, if you have cash you might get a good deal on a nice 1200 if you can find one.
