I think one off my mates mentioned it once and yesterday my wheel fell off while I was drivin and my wheel fell off but the thing is I knew I did all wheel nuts off tight. . . ?

Nah, wheels can fall off even when not using spacers. The thing is they need to be tightened correctly, to correct torque and all four evenly. Too loose or too tight and there is a risk of falling off.

Few members have spent hundreds on getting sets custom made. I wouldn't have thought they were illegal, perhaps if they're too thick then they would be (or if they weren't professionally made).
