#1 H165 diff centres
SaCoupe73 Posted on: 2009/3/10 6:26
I have 3 centres.
they are:

3.88 : 1 Locked centre
4.11 : 1 Locked centre
4.87 : 1 open centre

What I want is a 4.625 : 1 centre open or locked

Am willing to buy your centre outright or arrange a swap if you want.

also have 1200 bonnet , coupe rear window glass and rear springs with lowering blocks and pedder shocks to swap also.

Ex Adelaide

Pm me if interested and we can come to some sort of deal.

Cheers,
Geoff

Yes the locked centres have had the spider gears welder together

I have no idea what ratio would be in your ute . . . sorry

There is two ways to tell the ratio of your diff.

first is to jack the car up and turn the tail shaft by hand and count how many times it goes round to one revolution of the wheels.
eg 4.11 turns of the tail shaft to one turn of the wheels.

the second way (and best) is to remove the centre from the diff housing and look at what is stamped on the crown wheel
eg. B37:9

which means the crown wheel is 37 tooth and the pinion is 9.
37 : 9 = 4.11 : 1

if by chance the diff in your ute is 4.625 : 1
and you want to swap centres you can choose to go faster by fitting the 4.11 or slower but excelerate quicker by fitting the 4.875 one.

Cheers,
Geoff

Utes had the 4.11:1 ratio, the only way you're goiing to get a 4.625:1 ratio is to import the ring & pinion gear from Japan. I did this with a 4.375:1 ratio (4.4) years ago, & a friend got a 4.6 for her Sunny, both had to be ordered in. I
sold the 4.4 long ago & have lost touch with the lady with the Sunny as well.
A15 powered C20 van's came with a H190 that had either a steel 4.1 or alloy 4.6, they are slightly wider than a 1200 but can go under the back of a coupe with the right offset wheels.
