Does anyone know anything about multi coil ignition??????
I found only one picture of an A series with such a set up but found no information on the motor. From what I could see it looked like they used the ignition set up of a CA18 motor is this possible and how many members have had success with this????????Here is the picture I found

Mine uses an EMS engine management system and a Crank angle sensor from a Magna with the nose turned to fit, and an EMS ignighter. its not a cheap thing to do, it will cost between $1500 and $2000 if you use new parts.

as for a step by step guide, the EMS manual covers all except the crank angle sensor to replace the distributer

Okay so what about the set up in the picture?????Are these parts of a Ca18det or not???????Also do you have a picture of a magna and where do we get the EMS stuff from??Has anyone adapted a system from any other cars as this would work out cheaper if we can find parts at the wreckers.

this is a picture of a Magna http://graftoncarmarket.com.au/wp-con ... ploads/2009/03/1995-magna, and as for EMS gear look here http://www.enginemanagementsystem.com/ , using an aftermarket Engine management system makes it all work, not sure if and OEM stuff is adaptable.

That picture is from an engine buit by a mob called Yatala Head Workz in Qld. The engine puts out in excess of 200bhp from memory. Its pretty insane. Youtube has a few clips.
The head design is of course a guraded secret that is only reveled by paying them a large wad of pineapples. As far as multi coil, setup goes, costing, yeah if all you do is multi coil then $1500-2000 would be reasonable, but if you are going to that extreme, then efi should be on your list as well. You could consider using a wasted spark system off any later model 4cyclinder. CA18 stuff could be used I imagine. You would need to use an aftermarket computer which is your biggest expense to run the show, plus custom wiring to suit. There is a fellow from perth with a 1200 ute who has adapted a rotary dizzy to suit so to aviod using a CAS on the crank. (Sorry I cant remember your name, nice ute though) Really only neccessary in high reving, or high boost applications from my understanding. Its benefit otherwise is negigable i think.

Ok so if I get my hands on a Rotary dizzy than I do away with the crank angle sensor but do I still have multi coil ignition??????Also if I adapt the Ca18det stuff then do I use the coils and igniter with after market computer??I will be using individual throttle body injection on my A15.
